I wrote this track for a film my friend Chelo Alvarez created called Sold in America, about human trafficking and sex slaves. Chelo has dedicated her life to help give voice to the women who have suffered and continue to suffer. It was my honor to write this song for the film. If you are a woman, you are a survivor, a butterfly rising above, like the lotus rising above the mud. My deep bow to you, my solidarity as we stand together advocating for our freedom, and the freedom of our daughters, mothers, sisters, and the whole lineage of women who have been victimized by sexual, emotional, psychological abuse. Time is up. #metoo
